Makeup & hair for a Tuscan wedding, Italy
When Kate got in touch, asking us to do the makeup and hair for the destination wedding held at a Villa in the hills of Tuscany, we couldn’t resist.

Hair & makeup trial pre wedding
I first of all met with Kate and her sister at my makeup studio in Bolney West Sussex where we tried out the hair and makeup styles ahead of the wedding day. It’s so important to have a trial to make sure that everything is just perfect on the wedding day.
I then flew out the day before the wedding. It was a real adventure getting to the venue as it required several trains and then a drive into the mountains in the Tuscan countryside.
Beautiful wedding venue
I stayed in the beautiful village of Grosseto just a few minutes walk to the wedding venue the gorgeous Villa Bellaria.
Words cannot describe just how beautiful this venue is. The whole of the region is like stepping back in time with old cobbled streets and no shops around for miles.
And, of course, nothing beats Italian hospitality with their incredible food and wine which I was very lucky to sample as I got invited to the pre wedding dinner and the wedding day itself.
40 degree heat!
The weather was HOT and I mean HOT… no breeze at all just 40 degree heat.
Doing makeup in extreme heat is always a challenge especially when there is no air con. So I had to make sure I had plenty of setting spray and products to secure the makeup in place!
Wedding day hair and makeup
On the day of wedding I got Kate and her bridal party of six ready at their Villa.
Due to the heat they had a late afternoon ceremony which was just magical with the incredible lighting.
Kate’s hair and makeup was kept simple and elegant, with her hair styled into a low chignon adorned with fresh flowers.
Her makeup was natural but glam, with shimmery golds on the eyes to make them pop.
On her lips she wore her favourite Charlotte Tilbury nude pink lipstick.
It was truly a magical wedding and I feel very lucky to have been a part of Kate and Oliver’s big day.
