Wedding Makeup & Hair

Wedding hair and makeup

It’s been a very busy year for me and always feel bad I don’t get time to do enough blogs. This year I have worked in the Seychelles, run over ten makeup courses, worked on twelve weddings, some fantastic photo shoots and tv productions. Oh and I also squeezed in getting married myself!!

Having spent nearly twelve years in the wedding industry as a professional hair and makeup artist, i have seen so many kinds of weddings from from Churches, castles, Boats, Farms, barns, beaches and even a submarine. Every wedding has been different and of course every bride has been different but all of had their own magic to them. The past few years has been a lot of Boho weddings with natural glowy makeup and soft wavey hair and messy buns.  And in the last few months I have seen a switch to more structured hair and chignons and smokey eye makeup and matte skin but with lots of highlighter.

The Trial

I always suggest a trial for my clients as a way to get to know them and their style, the theme of their wedding and what style of dress they are having. I always recommend the trial once they have chosen their dress. During the trial I don’t set a time limit as it’s a chance to explore ideas and chat about what my brides want and try different styles out. The trials either take place at my studio in West Sussex or I go to the clients home. Once the trial is complete I send my clients a list of all products used and images from the trial.

The Wedding Day

On the big day I always come to the location of where the Bridal party is getting ready. And allow ample time to get everyone ready and the morning just goes by so fast! If I am doing the whole bridal parties hair and makeup I bring one of my team with me to ensure everything runs smoothly. I will always stay until the very end to do last mintute touch ups of hair and makeup. Sometimes I also stay and change the makeup to an evening look or change the hair style.

Here are some of my favourite wedding looks:

Loved creating this elegant look of a classic smokey eye glamorous makeup and twisted chignon hair up for the beautiful Fran who got married at the beautiful

A gorgeous brown and gold smokey eye, with contoured cheeks and a nude pink lip. For the Hair we went for a soft curly bun.

The stunning Amelia who got married at Chichester harbour hotel went for a gorgeous twisted side sweep with soft waves. Makeup was kept natural but with soft greys on the eyes and a beautiful nude pink lipstick.

Above is my own wedding in Zambia I went for a very simple half up half down with a flower crown made of fresh roses.
